The grand tour of the north — eight days linking the two jewels of Gilgit-Baltistan. Begin in Skardu with the Kachura lakes, Sarfaranga cold desert and the vast Deosai Plains, then cross to the Hunza valley for Karimabad's ancient forts, the turquoise Attabad Lake, the Passu Cones, the Hussaini suspension bridge and a run to the Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan-China border.
Lakes, deserts, glaciers, forts and the highest paved border crossing in the world — fully guided from pickup to drop-off, with a bonfire and a traditional musical night. Departures run weekly from both Islamabad and Lahore.
Pickup from Islamabad and departure at 4:30 AM for Chilas (Lahore guests leave the night before). Breakfast halt at Balakot, then continue towards Chilas with a stop at Naran, visiting Lulusar Lake and Babusar Top with the water streams along the way. Arrive Chilas, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay. (If Babusar Pass is closed, we travel via the Karakoram Highway — Besham, Summer Nala and the Diamer-Basha Dam site.)
After a 7:00 AM breakfast, travel to Skardu, stopping at the junction point of the three mighty mountain ranges. Reach Upper Kachura and transfer to the hotel, then visit Shangrila and the Lower & Upper Kachura lakes, with optional boating at Upper Kachura. Overnight stay in Skardu.
After breakfast, drive to the Manthoka Waterfall with free time, then depart for Shigar valley at 9:30 AM. Visit the famous Sarfaranga Cold Desert, explore the surroundings of Shigar and drive back to Skardu for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to 4x4 jeeps for the Deosai Plains. Visit Sadpara Lake, the Deosai National Park, Kala Pani and Bara Pani, and the beautiful Sheosar Lake. After exploring, head back to Skardu for the overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for the Hunza valley with a short stay at Astak Nala and the Rakaposhi viewpoint. Visit the Altit & Baltit Forts (if time allows, otherwise on return) and enjoy free time for shopping at Karimabad bazaar. Check in and overnight stay in Hunza.
After breakfast, depart for the Khunjerab Pass. Visit Attabad Lake by crossing the long tunnel beside it, the Hussaini suspension bridge and Borith Lake, with a short stay at the Passu Cones and glacier viewpoint. Visit the Khunjerab border (if the road is open), then drive back to Hunza for dinner and the night.
Breakfast call, then depart Hunza and leave for Naran with sightseeing on the way, visiting Babusar Top. Resume the journey to Naran, check in and overnight stay at Naran / Burawai. (If Babusar Pass is closed, the route is via the Karakoram Highway and the night stay will be at Chilas.)
Early breakfast, then depart for the cities with short stops including Balakot. Continue the drive towards Islamabad / Lahore — arrival and end of journey.
